Ascot trio Febueder has just released its debut EP Soap Carv, a collection of four highly maverick indie pop jams. Sometimes you might hear similarities to UK acts such as Alt-J or Blank Maps, but the three lads also seem to have listened to a lot of older Animal Collective or The Ruby Suns songs during the recording sessions. Febueder’s diverse inspirations in their songs are distinguishable but still they manage to create a strikingly unique sound despite their young age.
You can purchase the entire EP via Tape Club Records.

Cuushe is an ambient dream-pop project from Tokyo, but now based in Berlin. She has recently released her acclaimed sophomore album Butterfly Case on Japanese label Flau. One of the best songs off the album, the balearic guitar-house tune “I Love You”, now has a great video to go with. The video was directed by Twigs & Yarn.

At the tender age of 15, Sydney’s Lupa a.k.a. Imogen Jones already writes songs that make seasoned musicians go green with envy. Having benefited from a strong classical music education playing violin, Imogen found her way into producing her own folktronica gems out of her bedroom. It’s hard to believe that a girl that age has produced songs like the ones posted below all on her own. Especially “The Creature” mesmerizes with elaborate drum beats, looped violin picking and Imogen’s delicate voice.
Find out more about her over on her Triple J Unearthed profile.

Over the last one and a half years lots of new UK indie pop outfits with experimental approach have been at the mercy of comparisons to the omnipresent Alt-J. Sometimes clearly unjustified, sometimes justified. Because some acts clearly took advantage of the hype around the Leeds-based four piece.
Newcastle’s Blank Maps might or might not be one of them. Actually it doesn’t really matter as their new song is a catchy hybrid of fleet-footed indie pop and electronic influences, is enjoyed best without any ulterior motives.

L.A. R’n'B duo Dead Times has already won us over with their tune “Centuries”, which was released earlier this year. Being suckers for modern r’n'b that isn’t too cheesy we also fell for the duo’s new number “Inner Gold”. Listen to it below.
