You might wanna check out the young Oklahoma outfit BRONCHO, who self-released their debut Can’t Get Past The Lipslast year. With echoes of The Replacements, Iggy and the Stooges and The Ramones, the 4 guys deliver some great old-fashioned punk-rock. Their song “Try Me Out Sometime” is a fuckin’ hit!

Last September we featured Nashville-based garage rockers PUJOL in New On The Map. Meanwhile the band around Daniel Pujol is getting more and more attention, culminating their recent run with an excellent new single called “DIY2K“. What a tune!
Consisting of Matt Murillo (guitar, vocals) and Kelly Norman (drums, vocals), The Maxines is a garage-rock two piece from Olympia, WA. So far, they’ve only released a little EP with four songs via the small but lovely vinyl label La-Ti-Da Records. (You can listen to the four songs here)
Now the two are about to release a new EP called Drugstore, which will be available on K Records on January 24, 2012. Check out their brand of “primitive-fuzz-boom-bip” right now and show them some love on Facebook!
You might already have heard “No Future/No Past“, the new song by Dylan Baldi’s Cloud Nothings. The song definitely surprised a lot of listeners with its edgier and more brash sound. To know that the record was produced by mastermind Steve Albini, the change doesn’t seem that unexpected anymore.
The second cut off Attack On Memory though seems something like the link between the last and the new album. Dylan Baldi:
“Stay Useless” was my attempt at making a catchy pop song that was better than any other pop song I’ve written. I’m trying to take Cloud Nothings to different areas, songwriting-wise, so I figured I should try and finish off the “poppy” songs with a bang.
Well, this is what this amazing song is all about. Download it below!
The Black Lips are drinking, smoking, driving around and arresting people as corrupt cops in their brand new video for «Raw Meat». The song comes off their latest album Arabia Mountain, which was released on Vice this year.
Recently featured in our category New On The Map, Nashville based Garage Rock-act PUJOLhas a fitting new video for his misjudged hit “Mayday”. It features Daniel Pujol and a bandmate in a little knifeplay. The sportsmanship portrayed “begets something between the two parties involved,” explains Pujol, “like a music video or human synergy, as opposed to the brinksmanship and funky power struggles of a zero-sum game for exclusive wieners and losers.” Alright!

Update: Watch the video below!
Pujol’s new EP Nasty, Brutish, And Short is out now via Saddle Creek.
