Pitchfork Music Festival Paris 2012 – what a lovely festival that was! Thanks to La Blogothèque we can now re-experience the festival’s and the city’s feel by watching a couple of take-away performances/shows by bands like The Walkmen, DIIV or How To Dress Well.
You might already have heard “No Future/No Past“, the new song by Dylan Baldi’s Cloud Nothings. The song definitely surprised a lot of listeners with its edgier and more brash sound. To know that the record was produced by mastermind Steve Albini, the change doesn’t seem that unexpected anymore.
The second cut off Attack On Memory though seems something like the link between the last and the new album. Dylan Baldi:
“Stay Useless” was my attempt at making a catchy pop song that was better than any other pop song I’ve written. I’m trying to take Cloud Nothings to different areas, songwriting-wise, so I figured I should try and finish off the “poppy” songs with a bang.
Well, this is what this amazing song is all about. Download it below!
Wow, didn’t expect a new Cloud Nothings song to arrive today! “No Future/No Past” is the first song we get to hear off the Cleveland boys sophomore album Attack On Memory. The song seems to lead in a totally different direction where Cloud Nothings came from! Instead of short and fast songs, they now present a slow-building rock song with frontman Dylan Baldi’s voice growling and even screaming. Amazing!
Attack On Memory will be out through Carpark on January 24th. The album was produced by the great Steve Albini.
After having released several 7-inches, a split CD with Kevin Greenspon and a collection of previously unreleased songs, Dylan Baldi alias lo-fi Cleveland power-pop project Cloud Nothings is going to release his debut album.
“Understand At All” is already making lust for more, but still you have to wait until January 24th. Cloud Nothings will then see its official release via Wichita in Europe.
From time to time I really enjoy some straight and noisy guitar riffs beside all the electronic sounds of our time. To my great joy, Calfornia’s Kevin Greenspon just sent us over three songs, which absolutely comply my needs.
“Carpool Pepsi”, “Post Life” and “I Apologize” are taken from a new split CD, which he produced together with Dylan Baldi from Cloud Nothings. Go get it via Bridgetown Records.
