XXYYXX. That’s the moniker of Orlando-based youngster Marcel Everett, who just sent us over some of his newest productions/tracks via his label Relief in Abstract Records. Genre? Post-dubstep/jukewave à la xxxy (yeah, the name similarity is pretty funny) or James Blake mixed with chillwave à la Washed Out. Like it.
Yoonah Park directed this breathtaking new video for Washed Out‘s «Amor Fati» single. The scenery looks like in Iceland or in another Scandinavian country.
The song, which originally comes off Washed Out’s debut Within Without, will now also be released on 12″ vinyl. Oh man, I can’t wait to go back to Norway next year.
FISHINGis the pseudonym of Sydney-based production duo Doug Wright & Russell Fitzgibbon who have already scored supports with Cloud Control, Jonothan Boulet and Dappled Cities.
Some of their tunes are already more than a year old, but somehow I totally missed them while they were making their way through the blogosphere.
Their mellow jams and sophisticated remixes totally made my week, being a great bonus to the hot and sunny weather. (And be sure to watch their beautiful video for “Watersport” below.)
It was back in December, in the deep cold winter when we first wrote about Monster Rally. Somehow it was not the right time for their songs to be released, because their tropical sound fits a summer playlist much better.
Must be why they now chose warmer days to release a new EP. The Deep Sea EP was pressed in a limited run 300 copies on opaque pink vinyl with hand-printed, hand-number sleeves by Monster Rally themselves. (and made it available digitally on their bandcamp)
The EP is out today via Gold Robot Records. Check out a nice jam called “Surf Erie” below! (via)
Above you can see the voluptuous album cover of the Washed Out debut record Within And Without. We had to wait for quite a long time to finally get a full-length by mastermind Ernest Greene. As a forerunner and teaser he now gives away the lovely, Animal Collective-y “Eyes Be Closed” for free.
The entire album will be out July 12 from Sub Pop in the U.S. and Weird World/Domino internationally.
W-H-I-T-Eis the musical project of California based Cory Thomas Hanson. He recently released his newest LP called Twin Tigers. Part of this nice album is “Fountain”, a six minute dream-pop song, which reminds a lot of The Ruby Suns.
Twin Tigers can be streamed over at his bandcamp and is out now on Swill Children.
Charles Boyd a.k.a. french beatmaker Lord Boyd sent me over his new tune “Better Beedies”. His sound didn’t change much in his shuffly sound since “Versailles Beat” which I posted back in November, but that’s not a bad thing. Take a listen yourself!
