Pitchfork Music Festival Paris 2012 – what a lovely festival that was! Thanks to La Blogothèque we can now re-experience the festival’s and the city’s feel by watching a couple of take-away performances/shows by bands like The Walkmen, DIIV or How To Dress Well.
After giving away his four Bedroom Databank collections with lots of self-recorded demos last winter, Deerhunter frontman Bradford Cox is back with a new, official Atlas Sound album. A4D releases Parallax on November 8 in the US. And we can definitely look forward to this date, because this second track off it called «Te Amo» – a dreamy and nevertheless catchy song – is simply ace.
Oh, there are lovely solo tracks by a member of a pretty big band again. This time it’s Fleet Foxes‘ Robin Pecknold, who presents us three “pretty mellow jams”, including a cover and a beautiful duet with Ed Droste from Grizzly Bear. The whole thing is called “Three Songs EP” and can be downloaded here.
Sun Airway just showed me again why we put them on #2 in the best albums of the year. They recorded a totally new version of “Oh, Naoko”, one of the most outstanding tracks on Nocturne Of Exploded Crystal Chandelier at Yours Truly. This is one of the best things I’ve heard in quite a while!
