Earlier this year Captured Tracks’ Widowspeak played Luzern’s favourite summer bar Volière, hosted by Radio 3FACH. Local filmmakers Justin Stoneham and Roman Hodel captured the concert and this is the beautiful result: Watch Widowspeak perform “Perennials” and “Locusts” from their album Ballad Of The Golden Hour, which was released this year.

Some hours ago I was recommended “Sweat”, debut single by dutch artist Pink Oculus by a friend of mine. The song blew my mind at first listen, convincing with a wobbly beat and Esperanzah Denswil‘s soulful vocals and great rapping skills. I was pretty sure that it must have created quite a buzz already, but I was wrong. It seems like the blogosphere hasn’t gotten scent of this mind-blowing tune. Well, time to start the buzz.

cuushe

Cuushe is an ambient dream-pop project from Tokyo, but now based in Berlin. She has recently released her acclaimed sophomore album Butterfly Case on Japanese label Flau. One of the best songs off the album, the balearic guitar-house tune “I Love You”, now has a great video to go with. The video was directed by Twigs & Yarn.

English producer Gang Colours has released his recommended sophomore album earlier this week. His new single “Why Didn’t You Call?” features the highly talented Lulu James who’s joining Will Ozanne on vocals in this smooth track.

Invisible In Your City is available now from Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Recordings. Also, don’t miss Gang Colours performing at Sudpol Luzern on the 18th October at 15 years of Radio 3FACH, where he’s sharing the bill with Washed Out.

Today we get to see the video to “Zenith Diamond”, another appetizer from the upcoming debut record from Italian lo-fi wizard Jonathan Clancy and his band His Clancyness. It was directed by Pietro Borzí and Giulia Mazza.

“Zenith’ is the nervous baby of the album, a fast lone wolf that doesn’t have a chance to breathe,” Clancy recently said in a interview. ”He gets his air on the other tracks from the album.”

Vicious will be released on FatCat on October 8. You can pre-order the record here.

video | DUCKTAILS • under cover

If you have seen the music video for Ducktails’ «Hamilton Road» or if you are the (proud) owner of Real Estate’s Days LP you might recognize the house with the characteristic bird stickers on the windows and the beautiful backyard that appears in this new music video by Matt Mondanile and his bandmates. Seems to be quite an important place for all of these guys. The video – directed by Charles Poekel – features the band, Martin Courtney, Alex Bleeker, badminton, domino and much more.

«Under Cover» comes off The Flower Lane, Ducktails’ latest release on Domino Records.

By the way: Ducktails will soon be in Europe again. There are two shows in Switzerland we can definitely recommend:

August 14 | Luzern, Volière (free show)
August 15 | Zürich, Elmo Delmo (w/ Dans La Tente)

Fair-Ohs-Jungle-Cats-Cover__1_

Last month, London trio Fair Ohs has released its second longplayer Jungle Cats, a record that totally astonished me. I’ve already heard of the band before, but they’ve never really caught my attention so far. With the new album’s forerunners “Ya Mustafa” and Green Apple Milk” they definitely id. The lads brilliantly meld their lo-fi punk roots with world music influences just as Afrobeat, calypso and a free-jazz philosophy.

Watch the video for the mentioned songs, download them below and make sure to purchase the great record. Jungle Cats is out on Dream Beach Records.
